LOGAN — Cache County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 46-year-old Plymouth man who fled from authorities following a reported domestic violence-related burglary in Hyrum on Monday afternoon.
Chief Deputy Mikelshan Bartschi with the Cache County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to the incident just before 1 p.m. Authorities said property was damaged during the burglary, and the suspect, identified as Shane Hess, fled on foot when deputies arrived.
The sheriff’s office, assisted by Logan City Police and the Utah Highway Patrol, established a containment perimeter in the area. A K-9 unit conducted a brief track but was unable to locate the suspect.
Nearby schools were temporarily placed on a secure protocol during the search. The protocol was later lifted, and authorities say there are no known threats to the schools or the surrounding community.
Bartschi said Hess was located later Monday night. Pending charges have yet to be released.
