SALT LAKE CITY – The Grow The Flow organization will host a public forum to discuss the proposed Stratos Data Center project in Box Elder County on Wednesday, May 13.

The northern Utah public is invited to that event which will take place in the Nancy Tessman Auditorium of the Salt Lake City Library at 6 p.m.

The Grow The Flow gathering will feature a discussion for participants to learn more about the data center’s potential impacts, according to a May 11 post on Facebook.

The forum will also provide information about how local citizens can work to promote transparency and accountability in discussions with state and local officials about the proposed data center.

As envisioned by O’Leary Digital, the Stratos project would be the world’s largest artificial intelligence hyperscale data center, covering a 40,000-acre campus in the Great Salt Lake watershed, according to Grow the Flow volunteer Travis Padillo.

Grow The Flow and other Utah advocacy groups are opposing the Stratos Data Center in Box Elder County due to its rumored water consumption, energy requirements and proximity to the Great Salt Lake.

Grow The Flow is a “citizen-led movement that unites science, storytelling and civic action to save the Great Salt Lake.”

The group contends that more than 100 saline lakes are in decline across the world. Here in Utah, as the Great Salt Lake shrinks, the consequences ripple across surrounding states in the form of toxic dust, shorter winters, water shortages and a more fragile future.

But Grow The Flow members believe they can protect the environment of Utah by working together.

Concerned citizens wanting to attend the Grow the Flow forum on May 13 can RSVP at www.tinyurl.com/stratosforum

The Salt Lake City Library is located at 210 East, 400 South in Salt Lake City.
