LOGAN — An UTV rider was flown to a trauma center with serious injuries Saturday afternoon after rolling more than 100 yards down a steep mountainside in Providence Canyon.
Emergency crews, including Cache County Search and Rescue, responded to the scene near the canyon quarry at approximately 3:30 p.m. First responders had to climb about 100 yards up the rugged terrain to reach the individual, who had come to rest in thick brush.
Due to the extreme incline, Intermountain LifeFlight was called to assist. Rescue personnel utilized a helicopter with hoist capabilities to safely lift the patient off the mountain.
The patient was subsequently airlifted to a regional trauma center. Multiple local emergency units assisted in the technical rescue operations, including Cache County Search and Rescue, Logan City Fire Engine 72, Rescue 72, Medic 70 and Battalion 70.
