CACHE COUNTY – Unofficial results have been announced in countywide municipal elections held on Nov. 4.
Thirteen of Cache Valley’s 19 municipalities held contested elections for mayoral and city council posts, including Clarkston, Hyde Park, Hyrum, Lewiston, Logan, Millville, Newton, Nibley, North Logan, Providence, Richmond, Smithfield and Wellsville.
In Clarkston, Ryan Thompson defeated Mayor Craig Hidalgo by a two-to-one margin, earning 68 percent of ballots cast in that race compared to 32 percent for the incumbent.
Two and four-years seats on the Clarkston City Council were also up for grabs, with Jared Petersen (42 percent of ballots cast) and Jeff Noble (35 percent) winning four-year seats while Brayden Goodey (37.5 percent) and Danny Godfrey (27 percent) captured two-year seats.
In city council races in Hyde Park, David C. Fowles won 41 percent of ballots cast, while Gerald Allen Osborne garnered 33 percent of residents’ votes and Charlene Farley Williams was eliminated with 26 percent.
Incumbent Mayor Stephanie Miller of Hyrum lost her seat to Steve J. Miller by a two-to-one margin of ballots cast, with Steve Miller winning 66.5 percent of votes.
Rebecca Foulger (42 percent of ballots cast) and Nalyn Nelson (35 percent) emerged as winners in Hyrum city council races, besting Jared Clawson (23 percent).
In Lewiston, Brady Fizz Bodily won the post of mayor with 58 percent of the ballots cast over Jeffrey Wade Hall with 42 percent.
In the race for Lewiston city council seats, John H. Morrison (33 percent of ballots cast) and Jason Trexler (24 percent) carried the night over Brooke Hyer (18 percent) and Jill Hansen Dent (19 percent).
With 53 percent of ballots cast, David Hair won the mayor’s race in Millville, compared to 47 percent of residents’ votes for Byron Kim Ashcroft.
In the contest for city council seats in Millville, Darcy Ripplinger (36 percent of ballots cast) and Jacob Daniel Ames (23 percent) edged out Clay Wilker (19 percent) and Daniel Marion Grange (21 percent).
In Newton, Craig Rigby (70 percent of ballots cast) easily overcame competition from write-in candidate Derek Bartlett (30 percent) for mayor.
For city council seats, the winners were Brandon Taylor (45 percent of the ballots cast) along with Anzl Rhodes (42 percent). Candidate H. Reid Smith garnered on 13 percent of residents’ votes.
In the running for city council seats in Nibley, Randy Lloyd Spaulding won 41 percent of the ballots cast while Nick Kenczka took 25 percent. Candidates Troy Ribao and Nick DiSalvo earned 15 percent and 20 percent respectively.
In North Logan, Emily Schmidt (37 percent of ballots cast) and Larry Hepworth (28 percent) were the winners in the race for city council seats, outdistancing Tim McCabe (15 percent) and Kirk K. Larsen (20 percent).
The winner in races for city council seats in Providence were Scott Campbell (33 percent of the ballot cast) and Jeanell Sealy (30 percent) over Ladd Kennington (15 percent) and Nate Worthen (22 percent).
In Richmond, Jeff Young with 53 percent of ballots cast edged Amber Ervin with 47 percent to win the post of mayor.
Racing for a two-year seat on the Richmond city council, Fran Schumann (with 60 percent of ballots cast) bested Kayleen Bell (40 percent).
The winners in the contest for four-year council seats in Richmond were Lyle R. Blair (36 percent of ballots cast) and Daryl Black (37 percent). Candidates Sharik L. Peck II and Craig Harris both polled in the low-teens.
In the race for mayor of Smithfield, Aaron Rudie (51 percent of ballots cast) narrowly edged Kris Monson (49 percent).
Smithfield residents favored candidates Chris Olsen (30 percent of ballots cast) and Jay Downs (31 percent) over Sue Hyer (27 percent) and Lizette Villegas (12 percent).
In Wellsville, Chad Bankhead Lindley emerged as mayor with 56 percent of ballots cast, compared to 44 percent for Carl P. Leatham.
