LOGAN – A pair of significant events are scheduled within Utah State University’s Emma Eccles Jones College of Education Monday.

Ceremonies at 3 p.m. in the David B. Haight Center on campus will include an investiture honoring the dean of the college, Alan L. Smith, with the first endowed deanship in USU history.

Vice President of Advancement Matt White said the endowed deanship insures sustained leadership and resources to support longterm planning that will impact both students and the broader community.

To RSVP for Dean Smith’s investiture, email Amber Summers-Graham at amber.summers@usu.edu.

Another of the college’s noteworthy advances in Smith’s three years will be the focus of an earlier event at the HPER building Monday.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. will serve as the formal opening of the Emma Eccles Jones Advanced Nursing Education Suite, with guided tours and light refreshments. Two years of remodeling inside USU’s HPER Building has created a 5,000 square foot space for the nursing education space, allowing the Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) program to double in size.

Now, 60 students will be admitted into the BSN program each year with a total of 120 enrolled at any given time.
