FRANKLIN COUNTY, Idaho — Fire crews are battling the Treasureton Fire, which has grown to 48 acres southeast of Treasureton, Idaho. The blaze is burning just east of Highway 34, across from Treasureton Reservoir.
The Idaho Bureau of Land Management (BLM) reported Thursday night that the fire, initially estimated at 20 acres on Wednesday afternoon, has spread through grass, brush, juniper, and maple fuels. Fire officials are contending with challenging terrain and power lines in the area.
Multiple agencies, including the U.S. Forest Service, Idaho Falls District BLM, and Franklin County Fire, have responded with engines, water tenders, dozers, and aerial support. Approximately 110 personnel are on scene.
BLM officials estimate the fire will be 50% contained by 8 p.m. Friday and fully controlled by 8 p.m. Saturday. No evacuations are currently in place, and no structures are threatened. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire officials remind the public to avoid the area and to not fly drones, which can disrupt air operations.
