LOGAN — Firefighters have reached 75 percent containment on the Rick Springs Fire, which remains at 26 acres in Logan Canyon. The blaze, located about 15 miles northeast of Logan, is burning on both sides of US-89.
The US Forest Service reports there are no evacuations in place. US-89 remains open, with traffic control signals in areas where intermittent closures are necessary for firefighter safety.
Approximately 110 personnel have been working on the fire. Crews are focused on patrolling, mop up, and addressing hot spots. Some firefighters will begin suppression and repair in areas of containment.
No injuries have been reported and no structures have been threatened.
The fire started Tuesday afternoon along US-89 and is suspected to be human caused but remains under investigation.
Forest Service officials are urging travelers to use caution and expect delays due to intermittent closures.
