The Cache Valley Civic Ballet will present the classic ‘Cinderella’ on Friday, Mar. 18 and Saturday, Mar. 19 at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in downtown Logan.

LOGAN – As usual, tickets are selling like hotcakes for the spring production by the Cache Valley Civic Ballet, but good seats are still available for some those upcoming shows.

The CVCB will present three performances of the ballet Cinderella this weekend at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in downtown Logan. Two of those performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 18 and Saturday, Mar. 12. A matinee performance is also scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The CacheARTS staff suggests that anyone wanting tickets for the Saturday matinee reserve them immediately because the 1,300-seat auditorium is about 95 percent sold-out for that performance.

Elementary schoolgirls are traditionally drawn to the CVCB performances, they explain, and local mothers and their daughters tend to favor the matinee shows.

Tickets are much more available for the evening performances of Cinderella, however. The Eccles house is now about 65 percent sold-out for each of those shows.

Sandy Emile, the artistic director of the CVCB, calls Cinderella a classic for audience members of any age.

“You’ll meet the graceful and hard-working Cinderella with her evil stepmother, maddening step-sisters and her handsome prince,” Emile promises. “Our cast will tell the story with a passion and playfulness that will leave you wondering where you can get your own pair of glass slippers!”

Emile is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts who apprenticed with the North American School of Ballet before moving to Logan. She founded the CVCB in 1982 and the Cache Valley School of Ballet in 1986.

Her productions of The Nutcracker have become a holiday tradition for Cache Valley audiences and she has choreographed many full-length story ballets including The Firebird and Sleeping Beauty.

Like many renowned ballets, Cinderella is a Russian composition. It is recognized as one of the most popular and melodious ballets by Sergei Prokofiev and one that has inspired many choreographers.

The CVCB is offering an array of discounts for students of all ages to see Cinderella.

Tickets for seats in the rear orchestra, mezzanine and balcony are free for children in grades 3 through 6.

Front orchestra seats for children in grades 3 through 6 are only $6.

Tickets are 25 percent off for students in grades 7 through 12 and university students.

Tickets for Cinderella can be purchased on the CacheARTS website at www.cachearts.org.
