LOGAN — A 22-year-old Victoria, Texas man has been sentenced to prison for sexting with a local 7-year-old girl. Alex Rene Mosley has been in the Cache County Jail since being extradited to Utah a year ago.

According to court records, Mosley was sentenced April 18 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He previously pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, amended to a first-degree felony; four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and enticing a minor, amended to second-degree felonies.

According to prosecutors, the Logan City Police Department began investigating Mosley after the child’s mother called 911. She described how she had found her 7-year-old daughter naked and taking photos of herself.

Police learned that the child was sending pornographic photos and videos of themselves to a man, later identified as Mosley. He had been instructing the child on what types of images or videos to take.

Investigators searched the child’s phone. They found evidence of Mosley calling and messaging the victim numerous times. Several times he also sent nude images of a female and male to the child, charging documents explained.

Police obtained a warrant to search Mosley’s Snapchat and Google accounts. They found both nude and non-nude photos of the girl saved to the accounts. There were also 17 videos discovered of the child exposing herself.

In March 2024, Logan police worked with the Victoria Texas Police Department to arrest Mosley and take him into custody. While searching his electronic devices, officers found additional evidence that he had been talking to “many underage girls and lying about his age, portraying himself as younger than his actual age,” court paperwork stated.

During Wednesday’s sentencing, Judge Brian Cannel ordered Mosley serve a term of at least six-years-to-life at the Utah State Correctional Facility, giving credit for the 379 days previously served in jail. The maximum sentence was given following comments from the victim’s mother.
