LOGAN – One-year-old Eli Humble sat on the lawn taking it all in while his parents John and Page relaxed next to him at Summerfest Arts Faire on Saturday afternoon.
The band called Beatnik was warming up for their concert.
Elise Wilding came from Idaho Falls to display and sell her silk paintings. She said she studied commercial art at Utah State University and explained the technique she used to make her art.
“I’ve done well here. I sold some work,” she said. “And it was high-end stuff. I always do well at this show.”
Stu Brown, a local potter said he had a great experience at this year’s fair.
“I’ve done really well this year,” he said. “I’ve had the best sales I’ve ever had at Summerfest this year.”
Shirlene Davis, Summerfest executive director, said she thought Summerfest Arts Faire in Logan was a great success this year.
Cache County Event Center and Fairgrounds had some of the best attendance they’ve had in years, she claimed.
“Thursday, we had a crowd like I’ve never seen before,” Davis explained. “We had some artists report they broke their sales records from last year.”
The crowds and sales continued until it ended on Saturday, June 14.
“The volume of sales for Plein Air Paint Out and Photography contest was fantastic,” she said. “We had more participation, and they sold more at the silent auction than we’ve seen for quite some time.”
The three-day event gave everyone an opportunity to explore a wide variety of art under the shade of the trees at the Cache County fairgrounds.

She had some positive feedback concerning the concerts.
“We had some great headliners and when they started to play people were spilling out on to the lawn to listen,” Davis said. “Some said it was the best lineup we’ve had.”
Some of the performers were from Cache Valley and some from as far away as the Salt Lake area. Performances took place on both the indoor and outdoor stages. The entertainment was sponsored by Cache Valley Media Group.
She said Summerfest had 167 artists this year, 30 food trucks and 38 different performers to fill the air with tunes.

“I think it was over all a good experience. We’ve done two years in a row without a medical emergency,” she said. “And the majority of vendors and people who attended this year’s event I talked to had a great time and enjoyed the community.”
The Cache County RAPZ Tax, Logan City Cultural Arts Grant, and others have made Summerfest free to the public.
“I had a couple from Arizona come up to me and tell me what a great experience Summerfest was,” Davis said. “The said they liked the community so much they might have to have to move here.”
