LOGAN — A 21-year-old Smithfield man has confessed to sexually abusing several teenage girls after supplying some of them with drugs and alcohol. Manny Bald Eagle has been in the Cache County Jail since being arrested in October 2022.

According to court records, Bald Eagle participated in a status hearing Wednesday, Feb. 14, in Logan’s 1st District Court. He accepted a plea deal, pleading “guilty” to three counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony; two counts of assault by prisoner and distribution of a controlled substance, all third-degree felonies; and attempted assault by a prisoner, a class A misdemeanor.

As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed 18 remaining charges.

According to prosecutors, the victim told North Park Police officers how Bald Eagle supplied her alcohol and marijuana. He then sexually assaulted her repeatedly.

After Bald Eagle was arrested, other victims came forward with similar stories.

Court records show, Bald Eagle has been arrested more than 20 times for various offenses ranging from drug possession, driving under the influence and failing to stop at the command of law enforcement.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Judge Brian Cannell accepted Bald Eagle’s plea deal after the defendant waived his right to a fair trial. He ordered a presentence report to be completed in preparation for a sentencing hearing, Mar. 27.

Bald Eagle remains in jail, being held without bail. He could face up to 45 years in prison.
