LOGAN – Cache Valley residents have no shortage of choices when it comes to dining out or grabbing a snack. And even more options will be opening soon.

Recently, such chains as Dutch Bros Coffee (910 North Main in Logan), Mo’Bettahs Hawaiian Style Food (74 State Hwy 165 Suite 101 in Providence), and Cupbop (1309 North Main Suite 90 in Logan) have opened new locations in and around Logan. Other non-chain dining, desert and drinking options have also recently opened, including Shivers (frozen yogurt at 1007 North Main suite 120) and Barrel and Stave (cocktail bar at 33 Federal Avenue).

Several more chain restaurants are currently under construction or planned in this growing community and hot economy.

Kokonut Island Grill

Kokonut Island Grill opened its newest location this week at 472 South Main Suite 110 in Logan. The first Kokonut Island Grill opened in Bountiful in 2016 and started adding new locations last year. In 2021, they opened in Provo (February 2021), Salt Lake City (September 2021) and Orem (December 2021). The restaurant features Hawai’ian favorites like crispy chicken katsu, smoked kalua pork, macaroni salad, teriyaki chicken and teriyaki steak. A unique menu item is the Spam Musubi, made to look like a sushi roll. The Logan location opened on Monday, March 21.

In-N-Out

The California-based restaurant known for a basic hamburger menu is expected to open its first location in Cache Valley sometime this spring on the corner of 400 North Main in Logan. There are currently 378 locations throughout western states, including Texas. The first In-N-Out hamburger stand opened in 1948 and the first Utah location opened in 2008 in Washington City. Currently, the closest In-N-Out Burger to Logan is located in Riverdale and there are 11 restaurants statewide.

Another California-based restaurant chain expanding to Logan is The Habit Burger Grill, under construction at approximately 1355 North Main in Logan (between 7-11 and Chick-fil-A). Known for its variety of Charburgers, Habit also serves sandwiches, salads and shakes. The Habit first opened in Santa Barbara, California in 1969 and has since expanded to include over 329 locations across the country. There are currently 11 locations in Utah and the closest to Logan is on 12th Street in Ogden. The Habit Burger Grill is expected to open this spring.

Construction of three restaurants is underway in the Logan Business Gateway development at 701 South Main.

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Three new restaurants are currently under construction in the Logan Business Gateway development at 701 South Main in Logan. One of those is national chain restaurant Chipotle Mexican Grill. There are nearly 3,000 locations in the lower 48 states and several more locations internationally. The fast casual restaurant that focuses on tacos and burritos that are made in front of the customer as they are being ordered. Founded in 1993 in Denver, Colorado, currently there are 15 Chipotle locations in Utah with the closest in Riverdale. Chipotle is expected to open this summer.

Tropical Smoothie Café

Tropical Smoothie Cafe is also currently being built on the south end of Logan in the Logan Business Gateway. The national chain restaurant features more than just smoothies, including sandwiches, wraps, flat-breads, salads and breakfast items. There are approximately 850 franchised locations in nearly every state with eight locations throughout Utah, the closest location in Holladay. Tropical Smoothie Cafe began as a smoothie shop in Florida in 1993 and has been expanding rapidly across the United States. It is scheduled to open sometime this summer.

APizza

Perhaps one of the biggest mysteries of all the new restaurants being built in Logan is APizza. It is not a national chain but has aspirations of becoming one. The first location opened in San Francisco in 2019 and, according to comments made to Eater San Francisco, the creators want to make APizza “the In-N-Out of pizza.” The coronavirus pandemic slowed the initial goals of growth, but new locations are starting to be built. It’s unknown at this point how many locations are currently open beyond the original on Fremont Street in San Francisco. The pizza restaurant concept boasts of affordable prices while using organic ingredients. The Logan location is scheduled to open sometime this summer.

Café Zupas

A new Cafe Zupas is coming to Logan and is currently under construction at the newly reconfigured intersection of 700 North Main. Being built on the former site of A&W, Cafe Zupas features sandwiches, house-made soups, salads, and more with 24 locations in the state of Utah. The fast-casual restaurant was founded in Provo in 2004 and is still headquartered in the state with franchise locations in Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. The closest Cafe Zupas location to Logan is in Ogden. The restaurant is scheduled to open this spring.

A new Zeppes is proposed to be built on the corner of 800 North Main in Logan next to Industrial Tool and Supply.

Zeppes

According to the Logan Community Development office, Zeppes may be returning to Logan. A drive-thru location is being proposed at 811 North Main and will feature indoor, outdoor and roof-top dining. A Zeppes frozen custard location used to be located near Little Caesars Pizza at 555 North 100 West in Providence. Zeppes first opened in 2007 in Harrisville, Utah and there are currently eight locations throughout the state with the closest location currently in Riverdale. The restaurant features Italian ice, frozen custard and Italian ice with custard.

J. Dawgs

Gourmet hot dog restaurant J. Dawgs announced on its Facebook page in January that it had signed a lease to open a new location in Logan (among several other locations throughout the state of Utah). The exact location has not been announced, but there are currently six locations from Salt Lake to Provo, including a restaurant inside Vivint Arena.
