BOX ELDER COUNTY — An earthquake that measured 4.4 magnitude was recorded near Thatcher, east of Tremonton.

The quake was reported Sunday at 5:30 p.m., according to a preliminary report from the University of Utah Seismograph Stations. The epicenter was located about 10 miles southwest of Thatcher.

This earthquake follows a 3.9 magnitude quake event that occurred in the same area early Saturday morning.

Officials at the University of Utah’s Seismograph Stations said the earlier quake struck 8.1 miles southwest of Pernrose, Utah, at 2:36 a.m. on May 4.

There have been more than 19 earthquakes in the area recently, according to officials. The quakes were deemed minor, and no damages have been reported due to the tremors.
