BOX ELDER COUNTY — Traffic along I-15 was slowed on Tuesday after a semi-truck slammed into the back of a farm tractor driving on the northbound shoulder.

The crash occurred around 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, near mile marker 382 in Garland, about two miles north of the I-84 interchange.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Cameron Roden said the farm tractor was driving on the right shoulder of the interstate but partially blocking the right lane.

As the semi-truck approached the tractor from behind, the driver tried to swerve but struck the back of the trailer.

The force of the impact separated the cab from the rest of the truck.

It was not clear if the tractor was working in the shoulder or using the interstate to get to the driver’s destination.

Troopers reported that debris was scattered all over the roadway and forced the interstate closed temporarily until one lane could be cleared.

No one was injured in the crash.
