LOGAN — Emergency crews are currently searching for a missing swimmer at Porcupine Dam, according to law enforcement. Multiple search and rescue teams were dispatched to the reservoir on a possible drowning, Saturday, July 20, at around 2:20 p.m.
Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Tim Ramirez said a young adult male was reportedly seen diving from cliffs into the water and did not resurface.
Search and Rescue teams, along with dive units, were deployed to the scene. They are currently conducting a thorough search of the area. A state dive team and helicopter from the Utah Department of Public Safety are assisting in the search efforts to locate the individual.
Ramirez said the sheriff’s office is working closely with the other agencies to provide any necessary support during the critical operation. He asked for the public to avoid the area to allow emergency crews to operate without hindrance.
The identity of the male swimmer has not been released.
Ramirez said, “We understand the concern and anxiety this incident may cause within the community. As soon as more information becomes available, we will provide updates to keep the public informed.”
