LOGAN — A Roy woman is facing multiple felony charges after Logan City police officers used surveillance video, text messages, and ChatGPT history to link her to a commercial burglary.
Brooke Sage Racker, 32, was charged Friday in Logan’s 1st District Court with one count of third-degree felony burglary and one count of second-degree felony theft.
According to court documents, the charges stem from an October 15 incident at Jack’s Tire and Oil in Logan which permanently closed previously after being sold. Investigators allege that Racker unlawfully entered a trailer parked on the business property and stole a large batch of tires valued at more than $5,000.
Investigators pulled a web of digital evidence together to try and determine the suspect. Security cameras at the scene captured a truck towing a distinct trailer during the heist. Detectives tracked down records showing that Racker had previously rented that exact trailer.
A deeper forensic sweep by police uncovered explicit digital evidence tying Racker to the crime scene, including text messages and photos. Notably, prosecutors stated that investigators also recovered archived ChatGPT conversations on her devices that directly corroborated her planning and involvement in the burglary.
Court records do not yet list an attorney for Racker. She is scheduled to make an initial appearance before a judge Dec. 14.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
