LOGAN — Lightning and severe winds forced both Logan and North Logan to suddenly cancel their scheduled Pioneer Day fireworks displays Friday evening.
Municipal officials cited public safety hazards and strict safety protocols for the sudden cancellations, which were announced shortly before the shows were set to begin as radar showed multiple electrical cells moving across Cache Valley.
“Due to lightning in the area, tonight’s Pioneer Day Celebration fireworks have been canceled for the safety of our community, staff, and vendors,” the Logan City Parks and Recreation Department shared on social media. “Please stay tuned—we’ll announce a rescheduled date as soon as it’s confirmed.”
North Logan officials expressed similar regret over the weather delay, stating, “We’re sorry to announce that we will have to reschedule tonight’s fireworks due to the storm. We will keep you updated on a future show.”
Neither city has announced a makeup date, but officials said updates will be released once rescheduled shows are coordinated.
