LOGAN — The Rick Springs Fire in Logan Canyon has been declared 100 percent contained at 26 acres. Fire officials announced Friday night that the blaze, which burned on both sides of US-89, is no longer a threat.
Officials with the US Forest Service praised the hard work of initial attack resources and the Northern Utah Type 3 Incident Management Team. Local units took command of the fire area Saturday morning to continue patrols.
On Friday, crews focused on suppression repair and rehabilitation, restoring handlines with vegetation and soil, and building water bars to prevent erosion.
No injuries were reported and no structures were ever threatened.
The fire started Tuesday afternoon along US-89, and is suspected to be human caused but remains under investigation.
Highway 89 remains open, and there will be no further fire-related traffic delays, aside from existing construction.
