RICH COUNTY — A high school in Randolph was placed on a brief lockdown Thursday after officials investigated a man with weapons at a nearby cemetery.
According to the Rich County Sheriff’s Office, a 44-year-old man went to Rich High School shortly after 3 p.m. to express concerns for a student family member’s safety. After speaking with the principal, who assured him the student was safe, the man left the school and went to the Randolph City Cemetery.
Deputies arrived at the cemetery and found the man had several weapons in his vehicle. Although the man made no threats to the school, the principal put the building on lockdown as a precaution at 3:35 p.m.
The man was taken into custody two minutes later, and the lockdown was lifted. The man’s identity has not been released.
