GARDEN CITY – Bear Lake Raspberry Days festival is underway. The celebration began Thursday, Aug. 1 and will go until Saturday Aug. 3, at Heritage Park in Garden City.

The main festival and fair at Heritage Park begins at 10 a.m. and goes until 8 p.m. The event does not allow smoking or pets in the park.

The festival and fair will include vendors from the Bear Lake Valley as well as from out of town. There are also food trucks and several activities all on site to promote fun, safe and family-oriented activities.

The Raspberry Days Kids Fishing Tournament will also be held on Friday at the same time as the Festival Fair at the freshly stocked Heritage Park Pond. There is a $10 entry fee and participants must bring their own fishing tackle.

The annual pie eating contest will be held at the main festival stage from 11 a.m. until noon. There is an entry fee of $5, cash only, and all entries will receive a free T-shirt. There are also other prizes by Chad’s Raspberry Products, the sponsor of the contest.

Live music will begin at 10 a.m. with the Rich High School Band and then at 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. several different bands will take the stage.

Don’t forget the Laketown Rodeo at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday evenings, located at 275 East 250 South Street in Laketown.

On Saturday, Aug. 3, the biggest part of the activities will take place beginning with a 5K Run at 8 a.m.

The Pickleball Tournament will go from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Another Bingo Game will be played again from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon.

The Golf Scramble will take place from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Bear Lake Golf Course, located 4 miles North of Garden City. The four-person scramble will have a shotgun arrangement.

Every eating establishment in Garden City generally serves a fresh Raspberry Shake during Raspberry Days.

The Cornhole tournament sponsored by Tim’s Custom Boards will begin at 8 a.m. and go until 5 p.m. Check in at the INFO Booth and cost is $25 per team.

The ever-popular Lighted Boat Parade, provided by the Bear Lake Yacht Club, will begin at 9 p.m. and will go between the Bear Lake Marina and Ideal Beach.

The firework show will start around 10 p.m. and will finish off the three-day event.
