Logan City Police Capt. Curtis Hooley said Cisneros-Diaz was questioned by investigators on Wednesday. He allegedly admitted to being in the area Tuesday morning, where he had been drinking alcohol and arguing with his wife. He stated that he left his home during the fight to go buy cigarettes.

As police continued to question Cisneros-Diaz, he reportedly admitted that he had stopped on 300 South and assaulted a woman, he thought was his wife, to take her back home. He claimed that when he realized the alleged victim was not his spouse, he let her go and ran away.

911 dispatch operators received a call around 7:50 a.m., reporting the attempted kidnapping near 150 W. 300 South. Police located a single flip-flop sandal at the scene. Witnesses claimed the suspect drove away in a gray Honda Civic.

Hooley said Cisneros-Diaz was identified after pictures of his car were released. Officers from the Brigham City Police Department contacted the Logan City Police Department, reporting that they may have arrested the driver of the suspected vehicle for a DUI Wednesday morning. He had been witnessed, driving recklessly through Sardine Canyon, US-89/91.

Detectives obtained a warrant to search the Honda. Inside the car was a flip-flop sandal, matching the one located at the crime scene.

The alleged victim, a woman in her 30’s, was punched in the face during the brief struggle, but was otherwise in good physical condition. Paramedics were called to the scene and treated her for a cut below her eye but she did not have to be hospitalized.

Hooley said Cisneros-Diaz also allegedly admitted to police that the sandal at the scene was his.

According to jail records, Cisneros-Diaz was booked on aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony; robbery, a second-degree felony; and two misdemeanors for assault, reckless driving. He is currently being held without bail and will likely be arraigned in 1st District Court Friday morning.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
