GARDEN CITY – As seems to be the trend nowadays, the talented folks at Pickleville Playhouse are soliciting input from their loyal audience members for a show to be part of their 2025 season.

As usual, the Davis clan here are planning to stage another brand-new, original Pickleville-style musical melodrama to lead off their 2025 season next spring. But they are seeking audience input about the companion show that will debut later in the summer.

Anyone who provides their opinion to the Pickleville online survey will be entered to win four free tickets to attend each of the company’s productions in 2025, according to playwright/director Derek Davis.

For its second summer show, the Pickleville Playhouse is considering presenting one of five musicals. They are Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Seussical the Musical, Shrek the Musical, Spongebob Squarepants and the classic The Music Man.

Most of those shows have been performed in recent memory by one or more of Cache Valley’s performing arts companies.

The Four Season Theatre Company in Smithfield recently staged Joseph … as did Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre twice in the past decade. The UFOMT and the Cache Theatre Company have both mounted productions of Seussical the Musical in recent years; Music Theatre West staged a glorious production of The Music Man in 2019; and CTC did a hilarious production of the Spongebob Musical in 2022.

Unless I’m mistaken, however, Shrek the Musical would be a northern Utah premier if it were to be presented at the Pickleville Playhouse.

The Davises are also shopping for input on their next fall show.

With their reprise production of The Play That Goes Wrong having wrapped this past weekend, the Pickleville folks are setting their sights on something new for fall of 2025 – maybe.

In the troupe’s online survey, audience members are being asked to voice their opinions on whether they would prefer to see an all-new, Halloween-themed original Pickleville production next fall or one of four available musicals.

Under consideration are the familiar musicals A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, The Little Shop of Horrors, Into the Woods and  — wait for it – another reprise of The Addams Family (for the fourth time? Or is it the fifth?).

Who cares? I’m all in for The Addams Family, no matter how many times Pickleville stages it.

As always, all Pickleville Playhouse productions in 2025 will be staged in the rustic theater on the shores of Bear Lake south of Garden City.
