LOGAN — With the election less than two weeks away, KVNU’s For the People program continues to spotlight local candidates. On the program last week was Bill Campbell, who is running for Congress in Utah’s First District, roughly the northern part of the state.

It’s a seat currently held by Congressman Blake Moore, and he is being challenged by the Democratic party candidate who talked about why he decided to run.

“I was grateful to grow up in a nation that was full of hope, optimism and opportunity. Unfortunately, I look forward to the future, I don’t believe we’re passing on the same to our children or our grandchildren.

“With the concerns we have with debt, distrust and divisiveness, I’m concerned that they’re not going to have the same future and the same opportunities that I was blessed with. And I believe I’m in a unique position to be able to change our course and make for a better future,” said Campbell.

Campbell talked about his experience that would translate well into representing District 1.

“I believe I know Congressional District 1 extremely well. Again, I was the CFO for a couple large companies in our district, Autoliv for over 20 years and Spartronics just there in North Logan. I’m extremely active in terms of the charities, we have the Campbell Cares Foundation that supports everything from Habitat for Humanity, Make A Wish, Special Olympics.”

Bill and his wife, Amy, actually established Campbell Cares, a self-funded family foundation, that volunteers, donates and promotes charitable causes.
