BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — Box Elder County officials are warning the public to beware of ticket scams targeting the Golden Spike Rodeo, noting that some fraudulent tickets are being listed online for as much as $11,000.
According to a county alert, authorities are removing hundreds of fake ticket posts and comments from Facebook daily. However, scammers are also successfully listing fraudulent or misleading tickets on third-party resale websites.
Officials urged buyers to watch for red flags before purchasing. Common signs of a scam include incorrect event dates, exorbitant prices and seating rows that do not exist, such as “Row Z.”
Authorities emphasized that official ticket emails will not be sent to legitimate buyers until approximately one week before the rodeo. Consequently, the public should be highly cautious of anyone claiming they can immediately transfer official tickets before that time.
The county recommends that anyone planning to attend the event only purchase tickets through the official website, rodeoticket.com, or from individuals they know and trust.
