LOGAN — Officials with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have announced the new leaders of the Smithfield Utah Temple. Michael Lee Staheli and Linda Ann Gardner Staheli have been called to serve as the new president and matron.

The couple, who reside in the Smithfield Utah North Stake, bring extensive leadership experience to their new assignments.

Michael Staheli currently serves as a temple sealer. His previous church leadership roles include serving as an Area Seventy, stake president, bishop and high councilor.

Linda Staheli is currently a temple worker. Her past leadership callings include serving as a stake Young Women president, ward Young Women president and counselor in a ward Primary presidency.

The Smithfield Utah Temple was announced in April 2021 by Church President Russell M. Nelson.

A ground breaking ceremony was held June 18, 2022. Elders Quinton L. Cook and Gary E. Stevenson, members of the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, were both in attendance and participated.

Plans call for a three-story structure of about 81,000 square feet. It will be built on a 13.3-acre site at the intersection of 800 West and 100 North, south of Birch Creek Elementary School and northwest of the Blue Sox baseball fields.

Open house and dedication dates have yet to be announced.
