LOGAN — Firefighters successfully contained a large vehicle fire and protected a threatened building Monday morning at a salvage yard along Valley View Highway.
The Logan City Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a working structure fire at DD Auto and Salvage, 1976 W. 200 North at approximately 8:30 a.m.. The first crews arrived onsite in just over three minutes and reported a large pile of burning cars that posed an immediate threat to a nearby building.
The fire produced a thick column of black smoke seen throughout the valley.
Crews deployed to protect the exposed building and successfully prevented the flames from spreading further.
Employees at the salvage yard reported the fire started as they were removing a gas tank that sparked. No injuries were reported.
