March 31, 1930 – April 5, 2022 (age 91)
Marian W. Pound, age 92 passed away peacefully in her sleep April 5, 2022, in Logan Utah. She was born March 31, 1930, in Fillmore, Utah to Floid Eldon Warner and Vern Gladys Jackson. She is known for her service, compassion, hard work and the reputation of being diligent and dependable in all circumstances.
Marian grew up in Fillmore Utah, with her brothers Jack and Ramon, and her sister, Lorene. Business was her aim in high school. After graduation, she enrolled at Stevens-Henager School of Business in Salt Lake City, Utah, working to pay her room and board.
After completing her training program, she accepted a position as a secretary to William L. Woolf, the Director of Physical Plant and Operations at the University of Utah. She lived in the Beehive House Annex and later rented apartments with several other girls. While working as a secretary for Mr. Woolf, she met Earl Pound – who had worked for Mr. Woolf back East during World War II. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on September 13, 1951.
Marian and Earl raised five children: Sharon, Charlene, Wesley, Kristine, and Rodney. Their home provided an atmosphere of love and many opportunities to learn, grow and play games. All of their children have families of their own, and Marian enjoyed interacting with her 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Until the time of her death, she was still sending out birthday cards to each one.
Marian is known for her many talents, hobbies and special interests. She always provided more than was expected, whether it was planning activities or parties, making quilts, sewing humanitarian items like Covid face masks, or serving others. The quality of her quilts is legendary. Over the years she has been involved in neighborhood walking and Family Home Evening groups, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and church organizations.
She kept an immaculate house and yard and welcomed visitors. She loved to feed family and was always prepared with food on hand. Her family members and visitors always felt welcome in her home.
Marian and Earl also enjoyed visiting their own parents with their family. They continued to travel as a family and later found pleasure as a couple touring farther away places like Hawaii, Branson Missouri, Scotland, England, Australia, and Africa.
Marian has been a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in ward and stake callings her whole life. She dedicated time serving at the Logan Genealogical Library and later at the Logan Temple as an ordinance worker. She has the reputation of serving and helping others – qualities which she has passed down to her own posterity. She will be missed by all those who knew her.
Marian was preceded by her husband Earl, brothers Jack Warner (Betty Ann) and Ramon Warner (Nancy).
Marian is survived by her sister Lorene Durland (Gaylord) and her five children Sharon Robbins (Jim), Charlene Corbridge (Scott), Wesley Pound (Brenda-deceased), Kristine Wood (Ellis), and Rodney Pound (Valerie).
A viewing will be held at the Allen-Hall Mortuary at 34 East Center Street, Logan Utah, on April 14, 2022 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and April 15, 2022 at the Canyon Ridge Ward, 1380 East 25 North, Logan Utah, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at 12:00 p.m.
Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery.
