LOGAN — A 38-year-old Logan man was given the maximum sentence of five-years-to-life in prison for raping a teenage girl.
Drew Andersen appeared in 1st District Court Monday afternoon after previously pleading guilty to two charges of rape, a first-degree felony. He was originally arrested in September when the victim reported the abuse to police.
State attorney Barbara Lachmar said Anderson raped the victim multiple times. She told the court, it was one of the most serious cases she had ever seen as a prosecutor.
Previously, Logan City Police Capt. Tyson Budge said Andersen was booked into the Cache County Jail after confessing to raping the underage girl over a dozen times.
During sentencing, Judge Kevin Allen told Andersen it was just horrific how he continued to hurt the victim over and over. He said if it hadn’t been for Anderson’s previous plea agreement, he would have sentenced him to a longer term.
“You will never be able to fix this,” said Allen. “It will be up to the Board of Pardons to determine how long you are down there.”
In December prosecutors dropped four other rape charges against Anderson after he accepted a plea deal.
Andersen kept his head down and was in handcuffs and shackles as he stood in front of the court. He said there was not a day that goes by that he did not think about what he did.
