LOGAN — Law enforcement has arrested a man who allegedly threatened to kill people on a Connect Transit bus. Landon Oliphant, 19, was booked Wednesday into the Cache County Jail.

Logan City Police Lt. Bret Randall said 911 dispatch operators received a call from Connect Transit about 2:30 p.m. about a man who while getting on a bus claimed to be armed and was going to “kill people.” The driver quickly notified his supervisor, who contacted law enforcement.

Police located the bus in North Logan near 1600 N. 200 East. With the help of Cache County Sheriff’s deputies and North Park police officers, the bus was stopped.

Randall said Oliphant was taken into custody. He was reportedly carrying a backpack, which was later searched but no weapon was located.

Law enforcement removed the other passengers from the bus. Each were checked for weapons but none were found.

According to jail records, Oliphant was booked on suspicion of disrupting critical infrastructure, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Randall expressed appreciation to Connect Transit management and the driver for their prompt and professional response to the critical incident.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
