LOGAN — Cache County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a group of snowmobilers found the body of 37-year-old man near Tony Grove Lake. The deceased individual was discovered Friday, in an area called Miller Bowl, around 11:30 a.m.
Lt. Roy Hall said the snowmobilers came upon the body and called 911. The victim was naked and appeared to have been deceased for some time.
Search and rescue teams and paramedics were dispatched to the scene. A medical helicopter was initially requested but then cancelled after it was determined not to be needed.
Hall said deputies located a vehicle stuck in the snow along the Tony Grove road. A driver’s license matching the victim’s identity was discovered inside. Based on the appearance, the man is suspected to have been transient and living in the car.
Investigators believe the man may have suffered a mental health crisis, left his car, and wandered through the snow before passing away from exposure. His body was about 3.5 miles from the abandoned vehicle.
“There doesn’t appear to be anything to suggest foul play,” said Hall. “However, there is still a lot of questions we are trying to find answers to.”
The victim has ties to the area. His identity is not being released, pending the ongoing investigation and notification of family.
