LOGAN — A 42-year-old Logan man is facing charges of allegedly downloading child sexual abuse material onto a laptop. Shane Nordman was originally arrested Sept. 27, 2025, after a forensic investigator found 25 images of children between 3 and 12-years-old being sexually exploited.
According to court records, Nordman appeared March 9 in Logan’s 1st District Court. He was previously charged with 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Logan City Police officers received a report from the Department of Child and Family Services in March 2025. A complainant claimed to have located images of children on Nordman’s laptop. The pictures included various sexual images and photos of clothed female minors in bathing suits.
The complainant told police they had confronted Nordman about the material. He reportedly claimed his computer must have been hacked or an ex-girlfriend put the images on the computer to set him up.
Police received a warrant for the laptop and sent it to the Utah Tech lab for analysis. Investigators located the images along with several search queries for child sexual abuse material.
Nordman was later questioned by officers. He reportedly claimed to own the laptop but said it had been broken for several years. When police pressed him for more details, he asked for an attorney and was booked into the Cache County Jail.
According to court records, Nordman has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and is currently out of jail on $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear again in court April 6.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
