LOGAN — A 37-year-old Logan man was arrested Monday on multiple felony charges after investigators alleged he sexually abused a young girl and told her to keep the assaults a secret. Jared Alexander Sule was taken into custody following an investigation by the Smithfield Police Department that began in late March.

According to court records, Sule appeared Wednesday in Logan’s 1st District Court. He was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, the investigation commenced on March 27 after an accepted child abuse and neglect report indicated the victim disclosed to her family that Sule had touched her inappropriately. The girl underwent a forensic interview at the Children’s Justice Center on April 1, where she detailed the allegations. The girl repeatedly told interviewers the abuse made her feel “sad.”

The girl also disclosed that Sule would cover her mouth so she could not call for help, adding that she was afraid of getting in trouble if she spoke up. She stated he called the abuse a “real secret,” and told her to “never tell anybody.” She revealed the abuse because she decided “it wasn’t a good secret.”

During police questioning, Sule denied all accusations. He is being held in jail without bail and is scheduled to appear again in court Monday.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
