LOGAN — A 22-year-old Logan man has pleaded guilty to filming multiple teenagers using the bathroom and downloading child pornography. Brigham P. Schiess accepted a plea deal and will now wait to be sentenced Aug. 22.

Schiess appeared in 1st District Court Monday morning. He pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony; possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a third-degree felony; and 11 misdemeanors for voyeurism, lewdness, propelling a bodily substance, and possession or use of a controlled substance.

On Mar. 28, agents with the Cache Rich Drug Task Force served a search warrant to Schiess’ residence, near 300 E. 700 North. They seized a cellphone from his bedroom as part of a drug investigation.

While searching the phone, police found evidence of sexual exploitation of a minor. They obtained another search warrant to extend their scope of the search and seize more electronics from Schiess’ residence.

As police searched the phone further they found nine videos of voyeurism. The videos appeared to be made using a secret recording device in the home’s bathroom. They showed three different 15 or 16-year-old girls and boy changing and showering.

Police also found images of child pornography. The pictures were of children between 10-11 years old. They also found additional videos which appeared to have been taken with Schiess’ phone under the doorway of the bathroom, showing three more people.

As part of Monday’s plea deal, prosecutors agreed to drop 23 remaining charges against Schiess. No other details of the agreement were announced.

Schiess remains in jail, being held without bail after another judge previously ruled that the defendant poses a risk to the public. He could be sentenced up to 15 years in prison.
