LOGAN — A 20-year-old Logan man has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl. Thadeus Andreu Bel was booked into the Cache County Jail Tuesday.

According to an arrest affidavit, Logan City Police officers were contacted by agents with the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) about a sexual assault involving a juvenile. The girl said she had been in a relationship with Bel previously.

The alleged victim claimed that last fall she was at a party and became intoxicated. She decided to walk back to her residence and met Bel on the way. They talked for awhile before going back to her home, the report detailed.

The girl told investigators that she and Bel started watching a movie before she fell asleep. When she woke up, a family member described how the suspect had rapped her while she was sleeping.

Police interviewed Bel on Tuesday. He reportedly admitted to having sex with the juvenile victim repeatedly from May 2021 to Oct. 2021. He stated, “he knew it was wrong but felt like something was missing in his life,” according to the affidavit.

Police also quested Bel about the alleged rape. He claimed the sex was consensual but later acknowledged that the girl was unconscious at the time.

Bel was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in 1st District Court, appearing by web conference from jail. He was charged with rape, a first-degree felony; and 11 misdemeanors for unlawful sexual activity with a minor and lewdness involving a child.

Bel is scheduled to appear again in court next week. He is being held in jail temporarily without bail and could face up to life in prison, if convicted.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
