HYDE PARK — Most of the events will be Saturday in Hyde Park for their annual Hometown Days celebration, but at least one event will be held Friday afternoon.

It’s the first annual Hyde Park Car show.  Organizer Landon Wiley talked about how the idea for this came about.

“Just the general love for going to a car show with my family. (I’ve)been doing the Father’s Day car show over at Lee’s(Marketplace) for about 13 years, and it’s been awesome, and I’ve always wanted to do an evening car show in the park.”

The car show will run from 4p.m. to 8p.m. Wiley said this includes awards that will be given out by the mayor and city council.  A special feature will be a kids’ box car project.

“A car show for little kids where they can decorate a car and come on out to the movie in the park, we’re going to be showing “Cars” the movie. We thought it would be fun to have a drive-in car show for kids to decorate a little box car, come out, pull up to the drive-in theater and enjoy a movie in the park after the car show at eight o’ clock.”

All activities will be held at the Center Street Church Square. Another event that will be held Friday and Saturday is the Hyde Park Hometown Days Softball Tournament that will actually be held at Elk Ridge Park in North Logan.

A full day of activities will be held on Saturday including the Velvet Highway Parade.  The two-day event wraps up Saturday night with a Dance and Fireworks.
