LOGAN — A 34-year-old Logan man has been arrested on allegations of molesting a young girl for years, according to law enforcement. Cesar Orozco-Rubio was booked Tuesday into the Cache County Jail, where he is temporarily being held, pending arraignment on charges in 1st District Court.

According to an arrest report, a woman contacted Logan City Police officers in January, reporting years of sexual abuse by Orozco-Rubio, who was a close family member. The abuse occurred for around six years after the suspect moved to Logan from Mexico.

The now 27-year-old victim told police that the abuse started slowly when she was around 9-years-old. It progressed to around several times a week for several years until she was 15. The defendant, who would have been between 16 and 20-years-old at the time, is accused of groping and sexually abusing the girl regularly.

The report explained that officers interviewed a witness of some of the alleged incidents. The family member corroborated the alleged victim’s statement.

On Tuesday, police attempted to question Orozco-Rubio. He refused to talk and requested an attorney.

According to jail records, Orozco-Rubio was booked on suspicion of aggravated sex abuse of a child, a first-degree felony; and sex abuse of a minor, a class A misdemeanor.

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
