LOGAN – Officials here have announced the closure of one of Logan’s westside parks for the season.
The access road and trails around Trapper Park will close on Monday, Sept. 22 and remained closed through Spring of 2026 to allow for necessary construction improvements.
Those improvements will include a canal enclosure project, a river restoration project and the installation of a pedestrian bridge, according to a Sept. 16 post on Facebook.
The canal through the park will be enclosed to prevent seepage losses, simplify operation and improve measurements, officials of Logan Parks & Recreation explain.
A new diversion will be added to the Logan River and the river’s path between 1000 West and the Little Logan confluence is earmarked for bank stabilization and wetland enhancements.
Those enhancements will include the removal of debris such as cars, concrete, deadfall and other rubble to enhance Blue Trail access through the river corridor and improve riparian habitat.
Over the next 15 years, city officials plan to also replace invasive crack willow trees with non-invasive species to maintain habitat, canopy and water quality.
Additionally, a pedestrian bridge will be installed on the west side of Trapper Park to allow for future trail expansion across the river in the conservation easement.
Trapper Park is located at 1497 South, 1600 West in Logan.
