Crews prepare for the next stage of construction after a concrete pour completes the bottom floor of the North Temple addition to the Salt Lake Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah, March 2022.

SALT LAKE CITY — After two years of very few attendees during General Conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, leaders have announced limited attendance for the upcoming sessions (April 2–3). Even though people will be allowed to return to the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, tickets are still going to be hard to get a hold of.

In a press release, church officials explained that due to parking and accessibility concerns related to the construction on and around Temple Square, seating will be limited to 10,000 people per session. The Conference Center can traditionally hold around 21,000 people.

Those who come to the conference are encouraged to use public transit. The Church and the Utah Transit Authority will provide for free use of public transit for those attending one of the five different sessions. A conference ticket will serve as a pass for bus and rail systems during the weekend of conference.

The press release also explained that face masks for the conference sessions will be optional. However, the policy may be modified if COVID-19 case counts surge during the next week.

In March 2020, the church’s First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles closed the conference to everyone but leadership, and those speaking. The sessions were also moved to a small assembly hall.

In October 2021, the sessions moved back into the Conference Center but attendance was by invitation only.

Tickets that are available for April’s conference sessions have been circulated to local leaders in very limited numbers.

The press release concluded, “We are grateful to again welcome Church leaders and members from around the world who will be traveling to Salt Lake to participate in the conference.”

The five sessions, three on Saturday and two on Sunday, will again be broadcast on News Talk KVNU, 102FM/610AM, and streamed on KVNUtalk.com or the KVNU mobile app.
