LOGAN – Cache Valley residents and visitors took advantage of Logan’s Light the World Giving Machines during the 2024 holiday season. They joined some 850,000 others from 107 cities in 13 countries donating more than 490,000 goods and services.
Light the World Giving machines gave Cache County residents and others made significant onations during the Christmas Holidays in Logan.
Logan’s vending machines were in service from December 16 to January 1, 2025, and gave users an opportunity to donate a variety of items and services to local and global charities.
During the time the machines were in operation locally, it appeared that they were busy from the time they were open to the time they closed.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reported Wednesday the 2024 holiday season charity drive raised over $16 million and helped more than 450 charities.
Here is a picture of what the donations will provide:
- 2 million meals to feed the hungry.
- Vaccinations against polio and measles for 500,000 children.
- Emergency food boxes for 125,000 refugees.
- 106,000 chickens, goats and beehives to thousands of families and villages for food and job creation.
- 48,000 children and adults with essentials such as a warm jacket, shoes and socks, clothing for job interviews and school uniforms.
- 43,000 children and adults with funds to further their education and job skills with books, school supplies, financial assistance, scholarships, tutoring and more.
- 14,000 hygiene kits to refugees, young girls and others.
- Groceries and produce for up to a month for 10,200 individuals and families.
The church expanded the number of Giving Machines over the past two years, from locations in 28 cities in five countries in 2022 to 107 cities in 13 countries in November and December 2024.
Since the first Giving Machine launched in 2017, nearly $50 million has been donated, with the Church covering all operational expenses.

Volunteers were called to assist people who wanted to donate to the Giving Machines in Logan the last two weeks of December of 2024.
Craig Dunkley, who spearheaded Logan’s participation for the Giving Machine, said they wanted to thank everyone in the valley that donated during the two weeks in December.
“We will be presenting checks to the five local charities from donations received from the Giving Machines on Thursday, March 20, at 1 p.m.,” he said. “We will release more information when we can.”
