LOGAN — A 63-year-old former elementary school teacher was arrested Wednesday after allegedly exposing himself to multiple children and an adult at a community swimming pool, prompting authorities to issue a public appeal for more information.
Patrick Alan Green was taken into custody July 15 by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into jail on suspicion of eight counts of lewdness toward a child, which are third-degree felonies, and one count of lewdness with an adult victim, a Class B misdemeanor. Green, born Nov. 6, 1962, previously worked at Garland Elementary School, where he was arrested in 2022 for the alleged sexual abuse of a student, though formal charges were never filed in that case.
According to charging documents, deputies first responded to reports at a Nibley community pool on June 25. Witnesses reported that Green had been submerging his head underwater the previous day to watch juvenile girls while they were swimming. A parent captured video footage of the behavior and provided it to law enforcement to corroborate the reports.
On July 1, deputies returned to the same pool after receiving reports that Green was exposing himself to underage girls. A mother noticed Green approaching two juvenile girls and intervened to ask if they felt safe. The girls told her that Green had previously exposed his genitals to them through a hole in his swimwear, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Green left the scene after the mother called law enforcement. Subsequent forensic interviews with the children and an adult witness led investigators to determine that Green had allegedly exposed himself to four children on two separate occasions and to an adult at least once. Witnesses also alleged Green showered naked in the public men’s restroom while using a trash can to prop the door open.
Following his arrest, authorities searched Green’s residence and seized swimwear and electronic devices. Green denied intentionally exposing himself to minors, telling investigators he had been showering nude in the restroom but claimed the door must have opened while he was washing soap out of his eyes.
During the subsequent investigation, detectives identified a history and pattern of concerning behaviors. Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Mikelshan Bartschi issued an official notice Thursday seeking additional information from the community to assist with the ongoing investigation.
Bartschi urged anyone who has had encounters with Green that may result in criminal charges, or who possesses additional information regarding these incidents, to contact Cache County investigators immediately at 435-755-1000.
Lisa Perez, the grandmother of one of the alleged victims, expressed frustration after a judge released Green on $2,500 bail just seven hours after his arrest. Perez said she wants the public to be aware of his release.
“I don’t want people thinking that they are safe because he is back out in our community,” Perez said.
