April 5, 1929 — March 27, 2024 (age 94)

LaMont Edward Nessen, aged 94, passed away on March 27, 2024, in Tremonton, Utah. He was born on April 5, 1929, in Tremonton, Utah to James E. Nessen and Verda Olsen Nessen.

LaMont married Nola Summers Nessen on July 2, 1947. After her passing on March 15, 2001, he found love again and married Ranae Hyden Nessen on October 12, 2002, in Logan, Utah.

During his life’s journey, LaMont resided in Howell, Midvale, and Kaysville, Utah. He attended Howell school, Bear River High School and Radio Technician School.

LaMont devoted three decades of his career as a manufacturing engineer at Sperry Univac/Unisys before retiring from Unisys in North Salt Lake in 1989. Known for his ingenuity and craftsmanship, he was always ready to create or repair anything that came his way. Photography was a passion of his along with crafting woodworking treasures for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His Dutch oven cooking left a lasting impression on all who tasted it.

A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, LaMont served diligently in various callings including scout master and Sunday school president. He also cherished the bonds formed through the ITTC Travel club where he explored the country alongside dear friends.

LaMont is survived by his beloved wife Ranae Hyden Nessen; cherished children Monalyn (Calvin Sharp), Dallas (DeeAnn) Nessen, Roger (Lori) Nessen; six grandchildren; 17 grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; as well as brothers Lyle Nessen and Ronald Taylor.

He is preceded in death by his wife Nola Summers Nessen; parents James and Verda Nessen; sister Koy Harris; granddaughter Cally Carlson; great-grandson Talyn Sharp.

A graveside service to honor LaMont’s life will be held at Noon on Tuesday, April 2nd at the Riverview Cemetery. Prior to this service, a viewing will be held from 9:30-10:40 A.M. at Rudd Funeral Home-Tremonton (111 N 100 E, Tremonton).

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated nursing and hospice team at Bear River Valley Hospital for their exceptional care and kindness shown throughout LaMont’s final days. Their professionalism and compassion will forever be remembered.
