LOGAN — A relatively new creative space in Logan is continuing its month-long celebration with a series of upcoming events aimed at engaging the community in hands-on art experiences.
Woodsy Art Cafe, located at 53 East 100 North in Logan, is inviting residents across Cache Valley to participate in multiple events scheduled through the coming days, including a gallery-style social event and an interactive paint experience.
Owner Lyndi Perry, an environmental planner by training, said her path to running the business has been unconventional.
“I’m just trying to work with the pieces I’ve been given,” Perry said.
Those “pieces” include retail art supplies acquired from a closed shop, a small kitchen, and her background in Utah’s art and education scene. Perry previously managed STEM arts and education efforts for Craft Lake City, blending science and creativity in public programming.
“Science is the cornerstone of our understanding of the world,” Perry said, “but we need to connect it to art and culture for it to become meaningful to our human side.”
The cafe operates as a hybrid space, combining a small food menu, art supply retail and a community venue designed to make artistic expression more accessible. Perry said the goal is to introduce high-level techniques and appreciation without the formality often associated with galleries.
Several events are planned as part of the ongoing celebration:
- A social media photo contest encourages participants to tag the business and use a designated hashtag for a chance to win store credit.
- A gallery-style event titled “Nowhere to wear this party” featured local artists and invited attendees to dress up for an evening showcase last Saturday.
- From April 17–19, the cafe will convert its back room into a splatter paint space, allowing participants to create their own works using provided materials.
The events are designed to appeal to a wide audience, from experienced artists to those trying creative activities for the first time.
Perry said the aim is to create connections — both between disciplines and within the Logan community — by offering a welcoming environment for artistic exploration.
