LOGAN — A 43-year-old Hyrum woman already on probation for stealing more than $30,000 from a family member’s home in 2020 has been sentenced to prison for failing to comply with a court order, and assaulting an elderly family member. Amanda Lescoe was arrested in September after the victim went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to court records, Lescoe was sentenced Jan. 13 in Logan’s 1st District Court. She previously accepted a plea deal, pleading guilty to reckless endangerment, amended to a class A misdemeanor. As part of the resolution, an additional charge was dismissed.

According to prosecutors, Cache County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Logan Regional Hospital on Sept. 15. A 65 year-old woman was being treated for various injuries following a reported fight with Lescoe.

The victim explained how she and Lescoe had gotten into a verbal argument that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. During the fight, the defendant punched the woman in the face and pushed her to the ground.

Deputies reported the victim suffered three broken ribs, a bruised bicep, and bruising around her right eye.

Law enforcement located Lescoe the next day at a local motel. She told investigators that she acted in self-defense, although she couldn’t remember much of the incident.

Lescoe was originally arrested in July 2021 after stealing approximately $30,000 from a family member. She later pleaded guilty to theft, a second-degree felony, and was sentenced to 60 days in jail, followed by probation. She was also ordered to pay back the money and get a full time job.

During Monday’s court appearance, Judge Spencer Walsh noted Lescoe had failed to repay the victim. He sentenced her to a term of one year in jail for the reckless endangerment charge and one to 15 years at the Utah State Correctional Facility for the theft charge. The sentences will be served at the same time in prison. It will be up to the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole to determine when she is released.
