LOGAN — A large power outage Tuesday afternoon is being blamed on a construction company who hit an underground cable. The outage impacted a large area of residents and businesses beginning around 3:40 p.m.
According to Logan City Light and Power, a fiber optic contractor was working at 600 S. 1000 West when they bored into an underground cable.
Local residents reported hearing a loud boom just before the power went out.
No injuries were reported.
Electricians spent most of the afternoon isolating and working to replace a large section of underground cable that had been damaged.
Power officials said more than 398 customers were without electricity for much of the afternoon and evening. Power was restored just before 10 p.m.
