BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — A 25-year-old Garland man previously convicted of child abuse is facing multiple severe felony charges, including aggravated kidnapping and object rape, after authorities say he attacked a woman while giving her a ride home from a group camping trip over the summer.
Nathen Aaron Lefevre was formally charged last week in Brigham City’s 1st District Court with three felonies and one misdemeanor in connection with the alleged sexual assault. According to court records, the specific charges include one count of aggravated kidnapping, one count of object rape, one count of forcible sexual abuse and one count of sexual battery.
The charges stem from an incident that reportedly occurred on July 25. According to investigators, the victim and Lefevre were both participants in a group camping outing. At the conclusion of the trip, Lefevre allegedly offered to give the woman a ride home. Authorities claim Lefevre instead used the opportunity to isolate the victim and force himself on her.
Following the reported assault, the woman underwent a specialized medical examination to document her injuries and collect potential forensic evidence. During the exam, medical personnel observed and documented multiple physical traumas, noting the victim had sustained visible bruises and bite marks.
Forensic experts analyzed the biological evidence collected during the medical examination. According to authorities, DNA located on the victim was tested and subsequently linked directly to Lefevre, leading to his recent arrest and the formal filing of criminal charges.
In 2022, Lefevre was sentenced to 120 days in jail after previously pleading guilty to critically injuring an 8-week-old infant. The defendant, who was living in Hyrum at the time, admitted to shaking the baby and throwing her onto the floor of a Mendon home in June 2021 after losing his temper, causing three brain bleeds, multiple rib fractures and severe bruising consistent with shaken baby syndrome. He earlier had pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree felony child abuse.
A judge has issued a warrant for Lefevre’s arrest. A specific date for his first hearing has not yet been placed on the court docket.
Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
