LOGAN – Hotel California, the “original” Eagles tribute band, will lead off the Cache Valley Center for the Arts’ 23-24 National Touring Season with a one-night performance on Aug. 26.
When the real Eagles decided to take a 14-year breather in the 1980s, Hotel California set off the on a history-making musical journey that has taken them around the world and thrilled hundreds of thousands of loyal Eagles fans.
Winning praise from those fans for their dedication to recreating the Eagles’ experience, unique musical gifts and obsessive commitment to doing true justice to legendary performers, Hotel California became the only Eagles tribute band to earn an official authorization to play the Eagles’ catalog of music.
Hotel California has toured relentlessly since 1987, sharing stages throughout the world with the likes of the The Doobie Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gretchen Wilson, REO Speedwagon and many other bands.
Over the years, Hotel California has changed the minds of fans, critics and the music industry about how good a tribute band could really be.
With prior experience as members of bands including The Guess Who, April Wine, Glass Tiger, Coney Hatch and Foot In Cold Water, the current members of Hotel California are professional musicians in their own right.
On bass guitar and vocals, Andy Lapointe handles the Joe Walsh and Randy Meisner tunes for Hotel California, including “Take It to the Limit” and “Rocky Mountain Way.” He has been with the tribute band continuously since 1987 and performed in thousands of different venues.
An original member of group, Mike Dimoulas has been with Hotel California since 1986. He’s a music virtuoso, playing both electric and acoustic guitars, double-neck guitar and keyboards, while also performing vocals.
Guitar and vocalist Al Langlade has also been touring for more than 35 years, displaying his uncanny ability to imitate legendary singers like Robert Plant, Steve Perry, Barry Gibb and the Eagles’ Randy Meisner and Tim Schmitt. Langlade is also a composer, arranger and studio sound engineer.
In addition to touring and making five Gold- and five Platinum-status records, veteran drummer Jay Richl has earned praise as an incredible Don Henley sound-alike.
The local performance of Hotel California’s salute to the Eagles will be at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 26 in the Ellen Eccles Theatre at 43 South Main Street in downtown Logan.
