VICTOR, Idaho — A 10-month-old boy was found dead after detectives said he was abducted by his father in Idaho two days prior.

According to a press release from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, two people hunting on Kepps Crossing road near Dan Creek Road, east of Idaho Falls, called 9-1-1 dispatch at approximately 9:17 a.m. Saturday to report a man in a sleeping bag on the side of the road.

Deputies said the man was “naked and making odd statements.”

Investigators later identified the man as 48-year-old Jeremy Albert Best, who was wanted by the Teton County Sheriff’s Office for the alleged homicide of his wife.

While deputies searched the area, they reported finding Jeremy’s vehicle — a black Chevy SUV — down an embankment off the roadway.

Deputies said his child, Zeke Best, was found dead at the scene. Additional information about Zeke’s cause of death was not initially provided.

An Amber Alert was activated in an attempt to locate Zeke on Friday after Jeremy’s wife was found dead in a Victor, Idaho residence on Thursday. She was later identified as 38-year-old Kali Jean Randall.

The press release stated, “After a medical clearance, Mr. Best was transported to the Bonneville County Jail and booked for the outstanding Teton County Warrant. He will remain incarcerated until arraignment before the court.”

Individuals arrested and charged in complaints are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
