The vending machines will be ready for use from Monday, Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. and will remain through Dec. 31. Last year, the machines brought hundreds of people downtown to take the opportunity to do a different kind of Christmas shopping.
In 2024, residents from Cache Valley and the surrounding area purchased 16,681 items and spent some $275,000 at the Giving Machines.
The money went to seven non-profit organizations and five of the seven were from Cache Valley. Checks ranging from $40,000 to $70,000 were presented to each of the local non-profit charities to purchase and deliver the selected items.
Light the World Giving machines were a popular item during the Christmas Holidays in Logan.
This annual event is a result of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints inviting the world to celebrate and commemorate the birth and life of Jesus Christ during a season of giving.
Giving Machines offer people an opportunity to help others around them and those in far away places.
Steve Miller and his wife Joni spearhead the local effort with committee members Mike and Linda Stauffer with Craig and Cindy Dunkley.

Wayne Dymock, of the Bear River Communication Council for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said bringing the machines to Logan was a really exciting thing.
In the beginning, there was one in Salt Lake and another in Orem. Then last year they expanded their reach into St. George, Ogden and Logan.
Giving Machines will pop up in over 131 cities and in 21 countries this year for the 2025 Christmas season.
