SMITHFIELD – After closing their crowd-pleasing production of Blithe Spirit on Aug. 9, the thespians of the Four Seasons Theatre Company are already looking forward to their 2026 season.
Promising a theatre season next year full of adventure, magic, laughter and sparkle, the Smithfield troupe has announced that they will perform Peter and the Starcatcher, Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical, One Upon a Mattress and the Irving Berlin classic White Christmas.
In July, the Four Seasons Theatre Company solicited input from its audience members for shows to be part of its 2026 season and got an overwhelming response.
“Audiences and performers alike crowned Once Upon a Mattress and White Christmas as their favorites,” according to brothers Jon and Kody Rash, who head the Four Seasons Theatre Company. “We’ve never seen such enthusiasm and we’re so grateful for every voice that helped shape this season!”
There’s good reason for the sentimental attachment to Once Upon a Mattress. The 1959 Broadway production of that musical launched the decades long career of television comedian Carol Burnett.
A hilariously offbeat twist on the classic fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea,” Once Upon a Mattress is bursting with larger-than-life characters, laugh-out-loud moments and toe-tapping tunes. The Rash brothers urge their audiences to get ready for royal chaos and happily-ever-after fun.
Based on the 1954 Paramount Pictures film of the same name, the 2000 musical White Christmas was developed by David Ives and Paul Blake, with music and lyrics by the immortal Irving Berlin.
Local audiences will be invited to step into a nostalgic winter wonderland with this timeless holiday classic, say the Rash brothers. The musical will feature the beloved Berlin songs, heartwarming romance and Broadway-sized spectacle, making it a perfect production for the Christmas season.
Frozen: The Broadway Musical will be presented as a collaborative effort by the Four Seasons Theatre Company, the Cache Theatre Company and Music Theatre West. That production, based on the 2013 animated feature film, will be the northern Utah premier of the musical from Walt Disney Studios.
That show promises to deliver stunning music, dazzling special effects and unforgettable characters, according to an Aug. 3 post on social media.
Although the least well-known of the 2026 Four Season productions, local audiences will at least be familiar with the backstory of Peter and the Starcatcher.
After all, every hero has an origin story and before Peter Pan could fly, he had to find the magic. This comedy features a ragtag band of orphans and pirates on a whirlwind adventure across the high seas, filled with wit, wonder and a sprinkle of starstuff.
Although exact production dates haven’t been announced yet, Peter and the Starcatcher is slated for spring of 2026, Frozen will be presented in summer, Once Upon a Mattress is slated for fall of next year and, of course, White Christmas will be presented during the holiday season.
All of those productions, except Frozen, will be staged at Sky View High School in Smithfield.
That joint effort by Four Seasons, CTC and MTW will be performed at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in Logan.
Sky View High School is located at 520 South, 250 East in Smithfield.
The Ellen Eccles Theatre is located at 43 South Main Street in Logan.
