Florene Charlotte John Madsen was born on August 17, 1935, in Tremonton, Utah. She was raised in Portage, Utah, and graduated 8th grade elementary school and then from Bear River High School in 1953. She was a good student and sang in the Bear River High School Acapella Choir. She was an honor student and shared her musical talents readily and happily.

Florene married Boyd Madsen, from Malad, Idaho, at the LDS church in Portage, Utah on May 22, 1953. They lived a short time in Malad, Idaho. Boyd was an Air Traffic Controller with the F.A.A. and during their life they lived in Whitehall, Montana, Fresno, California, Hayward, California, and Redding, California.

She had two children, Robert Boyd Madsen and Teresa Lynn Madsen, both of whom preceded her in death. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart and they loved her.

Boyd retired from the F.A.A. at about age 50 and passed away at age 53 from liver disease.

Florene remained in Redding, California. She loved church work, especially Relief Society and temple work.

She passed away on January 22, 2024, following a stroke with complications.

A viewing was held in Redding, California for close friends on January 26, 2024.

Funeral services will be held under the direction of Rudd Funeral Home on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11 A.M. with Bishop Chris Hall officiating.

A viewing will be held prior from 9:30-10:30 A.M. All services will be held at the Portage LDS Church (8910 W 25800 N St, Portage, UT 84331).

Interment to follow at the Portage Cemetery.
